Seeking Candidates for CRLS School Council Caregiver Representatives 2026-28 term

CRLS Family Connections runs the election for parent/caregiver positions on the school council which are for a two-year term. Learn more about this position and fill out this form to nominate yourself or someone else to run.

Who Should Join a School Council

If you are interested in…

Improving outcomes for all students
Supporting educators and families
Brainstorming ideas for how to fulfill the district’s strategic initiatives
Listening about issues that impact the school

…And can commit to one meeting every month, then the School Council is for you!

School Council Composition:

Co-chaired by principal and 1 parent/ guardian/caregiver
4-6 parent/guardian/caregiver representatives
4-6 school staff representatives
2 student representatives for upper schools and high school
2-3 community representatives

Nominations are open through May 22. Voting will be June 1-12.

What is the School Council?

The School Council is a representative advisory group of parents, guardians, and caregivers, students, community members, and school staff members that collaborates in advising the principal in planning for and implementing goals and practices that enhance the achievement of all students. Members work together to support the implementation of the School Improvement Plan (SIP), existing and new programs, and family engagement.

Family Portal (https://secure1.cpsd.us/family_portal/) - to fill out back to school forms, health forms, etc.
ASPEN (https://ma-cambridge.myfollett.com/aspen/logon.do) - a website to see your student's grades, assignments,, and schedule
ParentSquare (https://www.parentsquare.com/signin)- phone app or website to receive notices from Cambridge Public Schools and for parents to communicate with school staff. It can translate communications into the parent's preferred language. Sign up with the email you use to register your students under "Register" at https://www.parentsquare.com/signin
Google Classroom - Assignments will be posted here. For caregivers of students with IEPs who need to help their student stay on track with schoolwork. It is most useful to login with your student's login and password.
